Express your sympathy with flowers

Fleming Berry Mathews, III, lost his valiant battle with cancer on Friday, November 4, 2011 Bear, as he was known to many of his friends, was an extraordinary man with a huge heart and a zest for life.

Berry was born April 17, 1957 in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Highland Park High School where the friends he made became fellow travelers in life as they shared in each other's celebrations and milestones. Berry was a fabulous cook renowned for his barbeque, passionate about music, and recently developed a rousing interest in politics, always eager to engage in a lively debate.

After he attended Texas Tech University, Berry pursued a career in sales. Like his father, he was a consummate salesman and loved meeting and interacting with people. He spent the last several years of his career as a wine consultant for Prestige Wines, which was later bought by Glazer's Wholesale Distributors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fleming Berry Mathews, Jr. and Sue Dell Parker. He is survived by his wife, Julie Herrick, two sisters, Mary Ann Baker and Pam Stammer, his aunts Mrs. Evelyn Wester and Mrs. Lod C. Allison, his cousin Dave "Buddy" Cook and his wife Martha, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Unity Church of Dallas on Thursday, November 10, from 2-4 p.m. A reception at the church will immediately follow.
