Jimmy Lee Flanary, 77 passed from this life 23 April, 2009 after a long illness.
Jim was born 12 April, 1932 in Iredell, Texas to Lonnie Lloyd Flanary and Francis O. Sawyer. After Graduating from high school, Jim joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. He worked in both cargo and customer service for Braniff Airlines for 26 years, including the period when Braniff resumed flying. In later years, he worked for Northwest Airlines.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Marvin L. Flanary and a sister Ona Mae Turner.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann of Irving, a brother, Jack Flanary of Fort Worth and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth extends her thanks to their many friends and to the staff of Northgate Plaza Nursing Home with special thanks to his nurse, Gloria Brown.
Services will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday April 28 at Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, 1820 N. Belt Line Rd. Irving, TX 75061. Burial will be at 2:30 on Tuesday April 28 at Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery.
