I worked at Tom Field Elementary school with Chuck in the early 90's. My fondest memory of Chuck was going to his room during our "planning periods" and playing Hang the Dutchman for 45 minutes. We delighted in coming up with the most outlandish and bizarre phrases imaginable. He was the cleverest, wittiest, and most intelligent man I have ever known.

Chuck and I first met at O.M. Roberts Elementary in the late 80's. He was a man of wit, words and wisdom and I knew that we were going to get along not only as co-workers and fellow teachers, but as good friends. He challenged me as an educator and was always supportive, funny, loving, and kind. I think of you often, Chuck, always with a smile for the "word-meister"! You are now at peace, my friend. I love you and will never forget you!

While I hadn't spoken with Chuck in quite some time, I will remember him as a man who loved Jesus and loved others. While outspoken at times, I believe his passion was fueled by a heart that longed for others to know his Savior. Chuck, you will be missed.

He was my Talented and Gifted teacher at Maple Lawn elementary in 1981-1983. He was talented and gifted as well and I will always remember him. -"Big Momma" Susy

I am a missonary and Chuck has been a dear friend of many years. Thru my 8 yrs on the field he has dropped me notes of encouragement, challenges and praise (w/his eloquent words!) and always pointed me toward Christ. Although I have known him to have medical problems, I did not know that he had been ill recently. In my sadness, I know that he is with our Lord and fully healed.

Chuck was always a joy to converse with. Talking to him was like reading a really good writer - interesting turn of phrases, huge vocabulary. He was clearly a result of a voracious reader of elevated books. We will sure miss him at all the Wednesday night dinners at El Chico, and the twice-annual Men's Bible Study parties. He's been a true friend to many of the men and will be missed.

Chuck was one of my best friends and closest brothers in Christ. I've known Chuck for 16 years. He was the most unique Christian I've ever known. Chuck had the unique ability to be able to scold you (when necessary), and also let you know that he loved you at the same time. This past year, Chuck and I spoke via phone every Sunday evening. I could write thousands of pages about this incredible Christian. But I'd like to close with this thought: This world is noticeably colder with Chuck Biggerstaff gone. I know that he's finally home with our Savior, Jesus Christ. But I still miss him. I miss you my friend, and look forward to seeing you when I come home. In Christ, Marty Bolt

We always enjoyed having Chuck to dinner or Fairfield. The times we spent just sharing our lives and thoughts were always special. Chuck was so honest and wise in dealing with my problems. His advice was usually scripturally based and without exception right on.

Chuck was a generous man. Many years ago during a particularly trying financial time for my family a check comes in the mail with the note that a similar check would arrive each month. I thanked him profusely but reminded him he did not have that kind of money and please not to send anymore. What generoisity! We will miss his presense and love for The Lord!

Chuck was a great critical thinker and I (we) will miss him dearly in our Wednesday Night Mens Group.

One can only imagine what it must be like to be in the presence of the Lord. Back in 1997, Chuck and I would meet with Michael Brewer at Cafe Brazil to discuss our faith and life challenges. I miss those days as we would challenge each other. He was a great exhorter but would also analyze and value an opinion if worthy. Sometimes you would feel he could see through you. My bookshelf shines brighter with a book he gave me for Christmas 1998 "The Quotable C.S. Lewis". Thank you Lord for the time to of known him.

Chuck was unique -- I have never known anyone like him. For one thing, no one spoke as eloquently, or with such vocabulary or perfect grammar, as Chuck -– not just when writing but every time he opened his mouth! And having a conversation with Chuck was always an adventure -- he could change topics without breaking stride. Chuck befriended me at a time that I needed it, 12 years ago. He assisted in a chain of events through which I underwent a great deal of personal change, and he was my friend throughout it and beyond. Chuck is a good reality check for all of us, as modern American believers. He is a reminder that the Lord has not promised material wealth, nor a great family. For most of us He grants varying degrees of good friendships, but even these can fail us. He has promised us neither good health, nor a job we find fulfilling. Chuck experienced ALL these losses in spades, perhaps more than most of us have had to endure. But the Lord did promise to be WITH us, if we cling to Him and serve Him. Throughout Chuck’s experiences, he clung to the Lord, and sought His presence, as best he could. And he believed what Paul said: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (This is evident in the post made under his name on this forum.) My hope for Chuck is that, as he enters the presence of our Good Lord, he hears “Well done, my son -- you have endured much, and yet you have overcome.” In his new Life, may he experience every good thing that comes from being in the presence of our Father!

Oh, what a mind! I would often call Chuck "Mr. Big Word!" I would say, "Give me a word for the day." He would reply with a word I had never heard before let alone understand. His understanding of scripture was always inspiring.

Some of my fondest memories when I was living in Dallas were of our Wednesday night men's bible studies. When Chuck joined our group he added a whole new dimension. Not only was he extremely intellectual, bright and witty, he was also not afraid to speak his mind or challenge a conventional thought. We spent many an evening coming in with an agenda for a study only to get thrown off in the first 2 minutes by a question or statement from Chuck that dove us into a rabbit trail that inspired great debate the rest of the night. He sure like to stir it up a bit! Although he will be missed by many, all those who knew Chuck have absolutely no doubt where he is residing today. He was a genuine man of faith. Jim Black

I was so blessed to be present when Chuck walked into a men's group meeting between Christmas and New Year's and hear Chuck say, "I found God in the Acapulco airport." And then to see how Jesus worked in Chuck's life. Chuck was such a loyal friend to have. I will miss him, but I'm so glad he's with our Savior now.

Craig and Del, I love you both and thank you immeasurably for your friendship. I leave you, of course, with a bit of reluctance, but my reluctance is so overshadowed by the glorious anticipation of eternity at the side of my God through Jesus Christ that I am bolstered rather than saddened by my passing. Remember the good times. Think of me on occasion. I rejoice in looking forward to resuming our friendship in eternity.

When our men's bible study got frustrated with the quality of our bible study guide, Chuck would write questions for us. They were always insightful, applicable, and challenging.
